Only the most select cane from the Mediterranean basin is used in the Jones Artist Oboe reeds.
The Artist reed is designed for intermediate to advanced players. They utilize the traditional long scrape preferred in the United States, allowing each player to grow into the full range of the oboe.

Each reed is individually tested and adjusted by hand.

We would suggest all first year players start with Medium Soft or Medium reeds (red thread). After the embouchure is more developed, consider a Medium Hard strength or the Artist Series reeds if playing for more than 1 year.
